Come and join us as we explore composition in photography.

Composition is one of the most critical element in photography. Composition is how a photographer arranges the visual elements within their image, frame. I promise you that if you search for information on composition you will find plenty You will find formal rules, opinion, some of which you can trace back to historical art movements and painters.

Even in the digital world, composition remains the key to creating strong images. Composition is what guides our eye through an image and gives importance to the subject. It creates the story for the viewer and how we as photographers convey that message.

I'm a concert photographer, and I usually photograph rockstars. Here I photographed the rockstars of the Irish Wolfhound world -- Sterling and his cousin, Serena. These two beauties belong to a friend who has owned several wolfhounds, citing the intensity of their gaze and the love they put into everything they do as qualities she most values in her pets. Both dogs embody those qualities and have earned the AKC Canine Good Citizen title.

I'm a concert photographer, and I took this image at a performance by The Aristocrats on August 1, 2024. The musician is the incomparable Guthrie Govan whose guitar skills and instincts are legendary. He preferred that the photographer not stand directly in front of him, so I photographed him from the side. It earned me a suitably aristocratic side glance which I loved and quickly captured.

Don't do a long exposure with lightning. I think it's a misconception. I only use maximum 2 seconds. I mean, that's still long exposure but it's not like some people will say that they have the exposure open for 20 seconds. That's ridiculous. Because there's lightning that means that there is a storm which means there's w

I was sitting at home on a beautiful spring day in Reading, PA. Several friends on Facebook were posting photos from European vacations, and the sights were spectacular.
